Microsoft Security Patch Installing

using Windows Updating Service

As a general rule before performing any of the below procedures make sure important documents are saved and applications are closed.

Update Microsoft Windows with high priority patches every 2nd Wednesday of every month.

            Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools then Windows Update.

Once at the update site, click on the Custom Install link.

Click on the Review high priority updates link on the left hand side.  Make sure all of these updates have a check mark next to them, then click on the Go to install updates link.

Click on the Install button.

You will see a downloading and installation screen.

Once complete click on the Close button

You will then see the Installation Summary screen; you can then close Internet Explorer.

In addition to the above for installing Microsoft updates, you may see the below icon appear if updates are available.  This is normal because your machine is configured to automatically download the updates and notify when they are ready to be installed.  When you see the icon, just double click it.

The below window will open, so select Custom Install and click on the Next button.

All of the updates should have a check mark next to them, so just click on the Install button.
